Welcome!

Hi, Thank you for being here!

Why did I start this blog? Well to say the least I love thunder basketball and just basketball in general.

When I was in 6th grade, I remember the first-time hearing about an NBA team the “Oklahoma City Basketball Team” as it was named for a few months in limbo. There was constant banter in OKC about what the name of the team should be.

I remember so many name choices, the Buffalos. The tornados (Thank God it wasn’t). I believe there was even one proposed the Lightning? in any case all the culmination led to the name the “Thunder” met with oohs and groans it’s wild to think about just how important this name is today. The logo was seen as confusing and given the fact you can’t see Thunder a lot questioned the strength of the name and if it would eventually require an eventual change.

Fortunately, those dispelled quickly as the city gave name the Thunder gave its name a reason. The atmosphere, the hype, the collective buy in from the city all culminating in a now so appropriately called Oklahoma City Thunder. From the very start Loud City showed up and showed out (although the first season doesn’t count and I’m not going to) The deafening screams from the upper tiers of the 300s to courtside gave the city’s one and only professional sports team life and excitement. At times its given people hope myself included. Now 17 seasons later we have been through HIGH highs and LOW lows and somehow every year still seems so new, and I can Honestly say I think this is the best team we have had since 2012 and ill even count 2015-16(smh)

I’ve lived in Oklahoma my whole life and I can’t sit here and say it’s perfect as nothing and no place ever is in life. However, that feeling when you show up to downtown OKC and stand outside the (Ford center…..Chesapeake Energy arena….) Paycom Center getting ready to cheer on something you aspired to be when you were little to now just giving you an escape from everyday life. You add in April Through June when the town is plastered in blue and white and orange with a sea of people wearing the same colors, I won’t say it’s perfect, but I will say it’s… something special. and something you have to be here to fully appreciate.

So why am I starting this blog? I don’t really know why now? Other than I had time on my lunch break to put this together. The more sentimental movie version of my response would be “Sometimes there are things you want to be a bystander and other things you want to be a part of”.

I hope this blog can be a testament to the things I love about the Thunder and basketball but also a sense of community for people who also love the same, and I hope what comes from my mind can not only inspire but piss off other fanbases (ill hold off from mentioning for the time being). The goal is to give thoughts and updates and my own perspectives of games and eventually make this something cooler!

Thank you!
